| Charlie
Evers came to Marion in 1952 to
work at WMRN Radio. After
working in maintenance for 15
years, Evers became the early
morning on-air personality.
Charlie
established the WMRN Peanut
Push; Buckeye Chuck, Ohio's
Official Groundhog; raised the
money to build Evers Arena on
the fairgrounds; and bicycled
across Ohio yearly for 13 years
with a group of bicyclists,
raising over $150,000 for the
American Cancer Society.
Evers worked at WDIF for ten
years and toured the country
with his "Travels With
Charlie".
In
1995 after 43 years in radio
broadcasting, Evers took the job
of Director of the Marion Area
Convention and Visitors Bureau.
In the position he travels the
entire country selling the
Marion area as a tour
destination.
Evers
is married. He and his wife
Jeanne have three daughters,
Kathy, Amy, and Angie. |
