That Downtown Music Has Me In Its Spell

I've been wondering who selects the music that’s played over the public address speakers downtown inbetween the tornado warnings and noon whistles. Is it the mayor? The police chief? Lawrence Welk‘s nephew? I was wondering if it is an appointed position, an elected position, or left up to whoever brings the donuts.

Yard Signs, Yard Signs, Yard Signs

The primary’s over and half the yard signs that line our streets will be stored away until September and the other half burned. For gosh sakes don’t throw those yard signs away! There are lots of uses for those corrugated signs and the “H” wires that plunge into the earth killing thousands of fish worms every year.

St Patty’s Day

I grew up in a St. Patty’s neighborhood. I didn’t know until I was grown that those guys that used to tie me to a clothesline post and cut my pockets off were Irish. My neighborhood was so Irish I got my first paddling in school, because I wasn’t Irish!
