OCC Offers Electric Choice Fact Sheet

Filed Under:

With a number of retail electric suppliers now competing with Ohio’s traditional electric providers, the Office of the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel has developed a new fact sheet that allows residential customers to compare all of their available electric choices.

The “Comparing Your Electric Choices” chart offers residential customers the essential information needed to make an educated decision about potentially switching to an alternative supplier to provide electricity to their home (generation). The local utility will still be responsible for delivering the electricity.

Currently, residential customers of Dayton Power and Light, Duke Energy Ohio and FirstEnergy are able to individually shop for their generation service. The OCC’s chart includes information about the cost per kilowatt hour, the type of rate (fixed, variable, etc.), the length of the contract and some additional details such as early termination fees.

The chart is available online at www.pickocc.org or by calling the OCC’s Customer Services Division toll free 1-877-742-5622 and requesting the “Comparing Your Electric Choices” fact sheet.
