OSUM Team Wins Wing Eating Contest

The team from Ohio State Marion won the 2011 United Way Hot Wing Eating Contest held Friday at Grant Middle School. The five-person team downed 139 wings in five minutes for the title. The winner for the last three years, Lowes, was made up of new eaters and didn’t even come close.

Marion County Courts came in second by eating 133 wings, while TRECA wrapped up third place with 130 wings.

When the carnage was complete, the teams had consumed well over 2,100 wings from BW3’s in Marion in just five minutes.

The annual contest serves as a fundraiser for United Way of Marion County. The event was kicked off with a donation of over $400 raised by Grant Middle School students.

The United Way is in the middle of their fall campaign. To learn more or to donate, visit www.unitedwaymarion.org.
