Troopers from the Marion Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on Sunday, January 15, at 2:00pm on US 23 near Somerlot-Hoffman Road in Marion County.

The crash involved a 2007 Honda Odyssey driven by Trae Damron, 18 of Marion, and a 2005 Volvo semi tractor-trailer driven by Meldon Lewis Jr., 40 of Detroit, MI.

The Patrol says Damron was southbound on US 23 and Lewis was northbound on US 23.  Investigators say Damron lost control of his vehicle, drove off the right side of the roadway, re-entered the southbound lanes, drove through the median into the northbound lanes and struck the left rear trailer tires of Lewis’ vehicle.

Damron and his passenger, Michelle Damron, 43 of Marion, were both transported to Grant Medical Center by Med-Flight. Both were admitted to Grant and were listed in stable condition. Lewis was uninjured.

Pleasant Township Fire Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office assisted on scene.

No charges have been filed and the crash remains under investigation.
