Fire on York Street Called Suspicious

A fire at 841 York Street on Friday is being called suspicious. Police had responded to the residence earlier in the day for a report of a burglary. A few hours later, the house caught on fire.

On January 27, 2012 at 2:30 pm, officers from the Marion City Police Department were sent to 841 York Street on a burglary.  During their investigation, officers say they located what is commonly called a "Molotov Cocktail" in the back yard. The make-shift fire bomb had not caught fire.

Later on Friday, at 5:51 pm, a 911 call came into City Dispatch of a fire at the same location, 841 York Street. Marion City Fire Department was called to the scene.

Marion City Fire Department along with the Marion Police Department are investigating the fire as suspicious.
